Traveling with family?  Are you Looking for a family friendly hotel?

When we started planning our first driving trip from Ontario, Canada to Florida we spent a lot of time looking for places to stay.  At the time we had 3 kids, aged 8, 3, and 8months.  Driving straight is not an option so we always want somewhere clean, family friendly and affordable-Drury Inn and Suites was great family friendly hotel.

Drury Inn Was Family Friendly for us

We came across the brand Drury Inn that hit all the boxes and more for us.  The prices were reasonable.   The size of the rooms and the many amenities at the locations made it a great place to stop.  As an added bonus Drury Inn has a rewards program similar to other large brands so you can accumulate points for future free rooms.  Most of our travel from Ontario to Florida is along the I75 and there are multiple locations along this interstate but there are also so many across the United States as well.

Below are our favorite things about Drury Inn and Suites.

Family Friendly Rooms

Even if it is only for one night we all need space.  On this particular trip we had 3 adults and 3 kids.  A basic room has two queen beds and that was not going to work for us.  What we love about this hotel is that most do offer a suite option.  Our room had two queen size beds in the bedroom, and additionally a pull out sofa in a room separated with a door.  These rooms have little kitchenettes which are great for snacks in the evening or storing food for the next part of your drive.  Ample space is at the top of our list when looking for a family friendly hotel.

The Pool

When we stay at a hotel having a clean pool is essential.  We have stayed at a few of the Drury Brand and each one of the pools has been incredibly clean.  The pool deck is clean and spacious and most include a hot tub as well.  The fun thing about these pools is a lot of them have an indoor/outdoor pool and the kids can swim under the little wall to get to the outside part of the pool.  Now for us when we were staying where it was cooler it was definitely cold outside so keep this in mind if you don’t feel like swimming yourself- it can get pretty chilly outside watching the kids!

The Food

I don’t know about your family, but it does not seem to matter how many snacks we pack the minute we pull into a hotel everyone is immediately hungry.  This is where Drury goes over the top for us.  All of the locations offer a ‘Kick Back’ time which is a fully included evening meal.  The rotation is posted on the website and each night of the week features a different menu.  Now full disclosure here, this is not a 5 star meal, this is a fast family friendly meal.  When we eat here our kids are thrilled with the selection.  There is always a salad bar, hot dogs, nachos, baked potatoes as well as the nightly special.

Our kids love this meal.  There is complimentary pop and juice with the meal.   Most locations adults receive 3 tickets for alcoholic drinks- ALL INCLUDED.   After a long day of driving the last thing we want to do after getting to our hotel is then venturing out to find food so we see this as the biggest perk with Drury Inns when on a family road trip.

The evenings also include complimentary freshly popped popcorn for the whole family.  This is the perfect bedtime snack after getting out of the pool.  It is important to take note of the times that the food is offered as it is usually just a few hour window that the Kick Back and the popcorn is offered.

In the morning there is a hot breakfast full of delicious food to get you fueled up before hitting the road with plenty of juices and tea and coffee.
