Best Places to Hide Ducks on a Cruise Ship
Have you jumped into the excitement of cruise ducks? If you don’t know about these ducks check out our post on cruise ducks Cruise Ducks – Together We Can Travel. Hiding these little rubber ducks on cruise ships has become a popular game for cruisers of all ages. Leading up to our cruises we like to talk about where we might hide our cruises. With each cruise we take we find ducks in the most unusual places. Check out our top list of places to hide ducks on your next cruise.
1. Elevator Numbers
Most cruise ships have 3D numbers posted outside of the elevators. They can be fairly big but just enough of a regular site for some people to not notice the ducks. My kids enjoy hiding them in the circles of the 8s and have had luck finding them in the circles of the various numbers.
2. Spaces Under Stairs
Cruise ship stairs do not have backs on them, they are open. Some passengers choose to use the stairs out of necessities’ because of long elevator waits. Some use the stairs for exercise. And some like my family, use the stairs to always be on the hunt for ducks!!
3. Above elevator doors
This can be a tricky location and maybe only tall people will notice these. But some elevators have ledges above the doors. Placing ducks on top of these are a really fun place because they can stay hidden for quite some time before someone finds it.
4. In treed area
Our family cruises on Royal Caribbean a lot and a lot of their ships have a Central Park. This is a fun area to explore
but even more it is a great place to hide and find ducks.
In these areas we are always cautious about being careful around the trees and gardens.
If your ship doesn’t have a Central Park type area there are lots of areas that have potted
trees that can be great spots for a little duck to be hidden.
5. Behind benches
There are so many places on cruises that there are benches placed to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We have found
many ducks placed under or behind these benches.
6. Casino
This one is just for the adults! Setting a duck on a slot machine or various places in the casino are added fun for the grown ups too. I have even seen ducks that have been attached to poker chips.
7. Stair Railings
The stairs around the ships such as on the main “lobby” level and stairs on the pool decks all have railings. Ducks can be hidden on the lower levels of the stairs. A lot of people may be running up and down these stairs to the pool or restaurants and may not be paying attention to what is on the railing.
8. Walking Track
Whether you are using the walking track for exercise or just a quiet place to sit and watch the ocean it is a good hiding place. On the cruises that I have been on the walking tracks are not overly busy. There are great little areas around the side rails and doorways that make the perfect spot for a little duck.
No matter what your age, hunting and hiding ducks are such a fun part of cruises.
