Disney’s Saratoga Springs: A Resort Within the Magic
If you are like me (and it is okay if you aren’t) you love a trip to Disney. Disney is full of wonder, excitement, adventure and deliciousness. But in and amongst all the hustle and bustle it is okay to have some down time and enjoy some rest and relaxation. My family and I agree that if you are looking for rest and relaxation and a break from the busy then Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is where its at. This resort is nestled along the Disney Waterway and walking distance to Disney Springs.
The Decor
I haven’t seen a Disney Resort that is not full of beauty but the beauty at Saratoga is second to none. The subtle touches of
Disney magic as well as the beauty of the Saratoga theme.
As soon as you enter the grounds you are immersed in the full resort vibe. The lobby is enormous with beautiful accents all around. The racing theme from Saratoga is witnessed in the horse statue outside which is exciting for the kids as you are waiting to check in.
The grounds are full of beautiful gardens and greenery, ponds, fountains and benches throughout. It is not hard to find a quiet place to relax at this resort. Enjoying a view from a bench on the waterway is one of our favorite places to rest in the afternoon. The beauty of the lights from Disney Springs cannot be missed as you walk along the path beside the water.
There is a beautiful walking bridge that crosses a large pond area to get from the front of the resort to the back. The kids will love spending time looking into the water looking for fish.
Accommodations
One of our favorite things about this resort is the numerous types of rooms that are available. There are Deluxe Suites which is a standard hotel room (though much more elegant than your normal hotel), 1 bedroom suites, 2 and 3 bedroom suites as well as TreeHouse Suites.
No matter which size of room there is always ample space for the whole family. The 1-3 bedroom suites have full kitchens as wel
l as laundry right within the unit. This is a huge bonus for our family as we typically do Disney before or after a cruise and with a family of 6 there is always laundry.
The Saratoga theme is seen throughout the rooms, and the room decor is beautiful. For the kids their favorite part of these rooms are the murphy beds that come down. The 1 bedroom suites even have a pulldown bed with a goofy painting on the wall.
There are many units on this property so your room can be quite far away. If you do not have a car with you there are staff available with carts to fit your entire party and luggage that can get you to your building. When you are checking out just call guest services and you can get a ride to take you back to the main building.
Dining
Saratoga Springs has ample dining options. From pool bars/restaurants to the main building quick service and market. There are also a few sit down restaurants as well. If you are not interested in the dining options at the resort it is easy to walk over to Disney Springs where you can enjoy multiple different options of food and beverage choices. Our family has also jumped in a rideshare and gone off site to eat as well. This resort is at the edge of the Disney Resort so it is easy to get to places offsite.
If you are like us and get value out of the refillable mugs there are 4 options throughout the resort to fill your cups.
Pools
This Disney Resort has 5 pools. Two of them are ‘feature’ pools that offer waterslides for the kids. The other 3 are smaller less busy pools. Our favorite pool is at the back of the resort The Paddock Pool. This is a fun area with a restaurant and drink filling station. Like many Disney pools it is a zero depth entry to give it a ‘beach vibe’. At the
side of this pool is a kids waterplay area with water sprayers and slides. My kids can spend hours here!
Another favorite for us is the Grandstand pool. This is a smaller pool and does have a drink filling station. There is a hot tub that is nice to relax in during the evening. In the day there is a great splash pad area for the kids.
Transportation
This resort offers a few different types of transportation to get around Disney. There are the typical Disney buses and there are various stops throughout the resort. Alternatively depending on where you are going sometimes it may be easier to hop over to Disney Springs and Catch a bus from there.
There is Disney’s water transportation which will take you over to Disney Springs and also takes you down the riverway to the French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside Resort. It has been fun to go down and check out these resorts. There are some delicious dining options at these resorts too.
