Our family has 4 competitive dancers aged 6 to 15.  We have been in this dance world for over 10 years.  And boy- there have been so many ups and downs but truly it is an amazing experience to get to have with our girls.  That being said.  I will be the first to admit it is expensive!  I feel just when I have it all budgeted out that another expense comes in.  This is why a few years ago we started buying birthday and Christmas gifts for our kids that doubled as things they would need for dance. This guide will help you with what items are great for dancers for gifts and learn the things dancers really want!

Water Bottles

We all know that water bottles are at the top of the “must have” lists that young people want.  We have more water bottles in our house than we can probably use.  But this is a good idea to get your dancer a good water bottle.  It doubles as something they want but it is also useful because those comp days are really long and ensuring they stay hydrated is really important.  Here are a few that are really popular:

Socks

If you are new to the dance world this one might seem a little odd to you.  But trust me- for whatever reason dance socks have become a pretty big thing.  A lot of older dancers choose to dance in socks but all dancers seem to love having specific socks.  TNA socks from Aritizia are a big hit in our house.  Although white Nike Crew Socks are Still really popular with kids as well- these white ones are a favorite https://amzn.to/3XynE9Y.

I have been trying to get my kids away from the white socks because of stains so here are some of the black ones too you can grab https://amzn.to/4pk3FId.

Hair Accessories

Picking up hair accessories that your dancer already likes works as a great benefit to Christmas or Birthday Gifts.  Even if it isn’t comp season there are so many hair accessories that your dancer will use all year round.  You can check out our blog post about hair accessories for more ideas here, https://togetherwecantravel.com/dance-mom-makeup-kit/

Check with your dancer if they need new hair tools such has brushes or combs or maybe they need a new straightener or curling iron.

Picking up your dancers favorite hair gel or hair wax will work great for them during the year and then come in really handy for your comp season too.  Here is our favorite hair wax and gel:

Makeup Case

morning routines.  Grabbing a high quality makeup case or replacing one that is old or damaged is a great gift.  Keep in mind the size of it, do you want to add it into your dance bag or carry it alone?  How much space do you have at your venues for makeup cases.  We find that makeup cases with a mirror built in are really good for smaller change rooms at dance competitions.

We all know that competitive dance is expensive.  Doubling dance must have items with birthday and Christmas gifts can help having to buy double the amount of stuff you have to buy.  I hope this helps you with gifting your dancer.  For more tips for dance moms be sure to check out Dance Mom Blog Archives – Together We Can Travel.
