The first time I took a baby to Disney she was still on formula and limited solid food, doesn’t sound like the dream vacation does it? But we wanted to travel so we took the chance and headed to Disney.  At this time we also had a 3 and 8 year old.  Even after this trip- we did it with our fourth and happily took another baby to Disney World.  Read on to see the top things to think about before taking a baby to Disney World.

Realistic Expectations

We have been at Disney with kids of all ages, for us the youngest was 4months.  Remember, kids are still kids and baby’s are still baby’s.  They will need naps, they will have meltdowns, they might get hurt or even get sick!  But if you plan as much as you can and have realistic expectations of what might happen your trip will go much better!!

When doing Disney with a baby, have more than one way to transport the baby.  Make sure you have a stroller, but also a carrier.  If you have multiple children you may have them needing a break in the stroller.  The baby will likely love having the opportunity to get out of the stroller and get a new view.

Baby Care Areas at Disney

I love the way Disney caters to its guests.  Baby Care areas at Disney were a game changer for our family.  This is an area that every theme park has that is for everything baby and toddler related.  They have multiple change tables that are cleaned between each use and have paper covers that go over them.

There are areas for feeding a baby, heating up food or bottles- with high chairs I might add.  There is a quiet nursing room with rocking chairs.  There is a room that always has a movie playing and some type of colouring if you have older children with you.

These areas are air conditioned so it is a great way to cool off.  And if you happen to forget any of your supplies they do sell a lot of baby items right in the Baby Care.

Take Turns with the Baby

Baby in carrier at Disney World. When taking a baby to Disney it is important to share the responsibility.  It is not easy having a baby with you but use the people in your group to help out.  We are lucky that my mom travels with us quite a bit so there are 3 adults to help out with a baby.  We take turns going on rides, or one person sitting out if it is a ride that the baby cannot go on.

If your baby is old enough find a spot that they get to stretch their legs a bit.  For us we did this when waiting for family members off of Splash Mountain,  There was a great spot where she could stand assisted and watch the boats pass by.  As an added bonus she got a laugh out of the little splashes of water that she got.

Baby Friendly Attractions

There are some rides and attractions at Disney your baby can actually enjoy.  Look at these on the Disney Website when planning out your trip.  Our favorites are The Little Mermaid and Its a Small World.  Your baby can also enjoy all of the lights and sounds and character greetings.
