Boardwalk on Utopia of the Seas.
If you have followed any of our other travel posts you will know that we love to travel as a family.  As a family with 4 kids we are love getting away from the hustle and bustle of life and vacation together.  The endless memories that are made while traveling with your family are truly priceless.  We have been cruising for a number of years.  Though we have sailed with Disney Cruise Line- our personal favorite cruise line is Royal Caribbean.

As a family we have not yet sailed on Icon of the Seas- but we felt like Utopia was a good stepping stone to get to Icon (which hopefully one day we will experience).  For families we feel that Royal Caribbean does a great job of catering to families and Utopia certainly holds true to that.

Staterooms

I won’t ever lie that staterooms on a cruise ship are pretty small.  They are designed to fit as many cabins on a floor as possible.  But I do feel that the rooms on Utopia are bigger than on the older ships.  Within each category of state room (interior, ocean view, balcony etc.) there are a number of subcategories that determine the size of the room.  This is really helpful when you are trying to be mindful of your budget.

We love that even interior rooms can sleep up to 6 people which is really helpful for large families like ours.  On our sailing aboard Utopia we only had 2 of our kids for this trip so we had a 3V interior that slept 4.  We were surprised at the amount of storage in this room.  There was a vanity with drawers, and a dresser as well as 2 closets!!  Our kids on this trip were 15 and 10 and came with lots of stuff and we did not have trouble storing it all.  We also never felt like we were tripping over each other in the room which was a huge bonus!

Kids Activities

Utopia of the Seas does not disappoint when it comes to keeping those kiddos active and having fun.  As with all Royal

Kids Climbing Area on Utopia of The Seas.

Caribbean Ships there is the ever popular Adventure Ocean kids area for kids programming.  Kids can be dropped off during programming and there are family friendly activities throughout the day the whole family can enjoy together.

Our family loved the mini golf course on this ship as well as the added fun of the kids climber at the back of the ship.  We did not realize it was there until walking around the ship one quiet morning.  It is a great space for kids to burn off some energy.

The big kids loved the rock climbing and zip lining!  Added tip- the zip lining requires a shirt that has sleeves so no tank tops and shoes!

There is the ever fun boardwalk that is fun for the whole family and includes the Carousel.  Throughout the week they have balloon animals, and face painting on the board walk as well.  The Broadway style shows are also a lot of fun for the whole family.

The Pool Deck

We spent a lot of time on the pool deck during this sailing.  In total there are 4 pools counting the one in the Solarium.  If you are interested in a kid free area then be sure to check out the Solarium.Splashaway Bay Kids Area on Utopia of the Seas.

For younger kids Splashaway Bay is full of buckets of fun- literally there is a giant dumping bucket that my kids love!  There are some great slides and sprayers as well for added ways to cool off.  For those little cruisers still in diapers there is a cute little area for them as they are not allowed in the pools.

The pool temperatures were perfect and refreshing, sometimes I find the pools too warm but this sailing was great.  The hot tubs were so quiet in the evenings to relax in before bed.

For the thrill seekers there are 3 great slides that you can enjoy.  During our sailing the lines for the slides were not too bad at all and not once did we have a hard time finding chairs on the pool deck.
