Buc-ee’s Stop on Family Road Trip

Buc-ees Gas Station

Stop at Buc-ee’s on Family Road Trips

Have you heard about Buc-ee’s?  It is okay if you haven’t.  A few years ago I hadn’t of heard of it.  And now- I can’t imagine a long family trip without at stop at this incredible rest spot.  If you are reading this I am hoping it means that you are planning a family trip.  If you are new to Buc-ee’s you may even be thinking, seriously you are writing a blog about a gas station- I am telling you it is something you want to experience.

A lot of trips involve long hours in the car and endless “are we there yet” questions coming from the kids.  Though I can’t make the trip shorter for you- I can recommend making this stop to break up the travel hours in your day.

So What Is It?

If I said that Buc-ee’s was a gas station it truly wouldn’t give it justice.  But to be entirely honest it is.  BUT- it is a gas station with so much more.  This is like a must see landmark placed throughout various states.  When traveling on interestates there are Billboards getting you ready starting at about 100miles away.  These are really exciting for our kids because they know what is coming!

Though it is a gas station- it is huge.  This isn’t a quick stop.  So make sure that you are planning enough time to make the stop worth it.  The first stop to Buc-ee’s is pretty overwhelming mainly because I think people just don’t realize how big it really is.  It is a huge shop with to go high quality food and not to mention numerous really clean bathrooms.

Buc-ee’s even has its own mascot the beaver that if you are lucky enough you will find him wandering around the store and can get a photo with him!

The Food

I will always be the first one to say that the food at gas stations are not for me.  But Buc-ee’s is truly next level.  First of all there is a kitchen where they are constantly making fresh food and it is good.  Their brisket is delicious!  We look forward to having a brisket sandwich anytime we take a trip that might involve getting to stop here.

There are also plenty of other options of fresh made food including many options of beeClose-up of sliced grilled beef with rich seasoning at a traditional Brazilian barbecue in Londrina.f jerkey.  There are many kind of freshly made salads, fruits and snacks that you can enjoy too.

Since it is also a store there is also a really large snack food area with all of your favorite snacks and candy.  Our personal favorite are the white cheddar Buc-ee Nuggets.  They are a mix between cheesies and white cheddar popcorn- so good!!!

Don’t worry you will be able to get your coffee fix here too.  There are plenty of options of cold and hot beverages at the drink station as well as a large refrigerated dr

ink section as well.  Personally we love the iced coffee and always grab a big one for the road.  The kids will love the slushie station and can mix and match all of their favorite flavours.

The Shop

On top of all of the food and the drinks and Buc-ee the Beaver, this is also a really nice shop.  There are so many Buc-ee branded novelty items from cute cups to even dog treats.  The clothing department is also really great with so many great options.  There is a home decor section and the items are really nice.  It is comparable to the type of decor you might find at a Cracker Barrell but with more options in my opinion.

There are plenty of options for the kids as well from clothing to toys and travel games and activities as well.  If is is your

first time making this stop I highly recommend taking the time to look around the store to take it all in.  If you are in a rush though it might make more sense to take a bathroom break and grab a snack only.

Final Thoughts

If you are heading on a road trip throughout the states be sure to make Buc-ee’s a stop on your journey.  You can fill up on gas and grab a meal all in the same place.  Maybe you will even get to meet Buc-ee himself.  For more family travel tips and ideas be sure to check out our other posts at Blog – Together We Can Travel.
