Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas is a ship within the Freedom class. It has a guest capacity of 4800 and about 1400 crew members on board to take care of your every need. This ship is full of delicious food with many options to choose from. If you are looking for non stop entertainment this ship does not disappoint. 
Don’t worry though- if you are looking for quiet areas to retreat to and get away from all the hustle and bustle its got that too!
Thrill Seekers
For those looking for all of the excitement there is plenty on board Independence of the Seas.
The Perfect Storm Waterslides: Thrill-seekers will love the high-speed water slides, Typhoon and Cyclone, part of the “Perfect Storm” duo. Zip through twists and turns with sweeping ocean views — it’s a must-try for kids and adults alike.
Ice Skating Rink: Yes, you can ice skate on a cruise! The Studio B ice rink hosts open skate times as well as dazzling ice shows that rival professional productions. You don’t need to worry about packing your skates as these are available on the ship for you to put your best foot forward on the ice.
Laser Tag & Escape Room: Compete in a glow-in-the-dark laser tag arena or challenge your brain in Puzzle Break: The Observatorium, an immersive escape room at sea. Don’t be like us- be sure to pack socks and running shoes as this is a must for laser tag!
Evening Shows: Enjoy high-caliber shows like Grease in the main theater, live music at multiple lounges, and even comedy nights — all included in your fare.
The Pool Deck
On most cruises this is where you will find my family. Soaking in every ounce of sunshine and cooling off in the water. Independence of the Seas does not disappoint with its pool Deck.
Here you will find the brand wide “Splashaway Bay” for the kids. It is a fun water playground full of water sprayers, slides and endless fun!
There are two main pools at the centre of the pool deck. There are also many whirlpools on this deck as well. In the adults only area the Solarium there is also a pool to enjoy without all of the noise of the kids.
Dining
Our love for cruising comes from the relaxation of sailing on the ocean and quality family time. But also a top favorite for our family is the delicious food on the ships. Independence of the Seas has plenty of options to satisfy all appetites!

Main Dining Room: Classic, multi-course meals with ocean views. Your servers remain the same throughout your sailing-we love getting to know the staff on the ships.

Windjammer Café: Casual buffet with international options. There are always family favorites such as hotdogs, fries and hamburgers. My kids eat this a LOT while cruising.

Izumi: Fresh sushi and Asian fusion- this dining experience is available at an added cost and reservations are required.

Chops Grille: A classic steakhouse experience can be enjoyed for an added cost and the same as Izumi reservations are required.

Fish & Ships: A casual, poolside spot for British-style fish and chips- so delicious!

Ben & Jerry’s and Sugar Beach: Sweet treats for dessert lovers for an added cost
- Sprinkles: my family’s favorite- the unlimited free ice cream can be enjoyed on the pool deck.
